Merry Christmas~

!!Edit!! I completely forgot! This batch of release included our 2,500th chapter released! That also happened to be our goal for the end of the year, 2,500 total chapters released. So hip hip houray!

So it’s the annual “let’s do everything on the 24th & 25th of December after slacking off for the last two months” release, also known as the Christmas release.

I’m kind of disappointed by this year’s release by usual standards, because it’s smaller and I had plans to release at least ten full volumes. Yeah, ten full volumes. Unfortunately, the lack of staff pretty much hampered those plans.

So I’ll re-iterate again: We need staff. We have a lot of things we’d like to get scanlated and out of the way, but with life evolving and changing, we need more people to help out. I’m not kidding when I say we could have had 3 extra volumes done today if I had an extra cleaner, extra experienced typesetter and extra QCer.

If you want to help us out, we’re looking for Japanese to English translators (Because we do mostly seinen series, you need to be able to do series without furigana), Editors, an experienced typesetter and a Quality Checker. Please PM me on IRC or email me if you’re interested.

Now, for the releases…

Dokuro v01 (!Dokuro01 !Wolfuro01) – We’re partnering up with Hokuto no Gun to do this series by Saruwatari Tetsuya, along with many other of his series. This makes me extremely happy because I love me some Saruwatari. A big thank you to them for translating the series, please visit them and thank them as well by clicking here. I was trying to have three total volumes done with them for Christmas, but it wasn’t meant to be. Hopefully it’ll be a fruitful 2014.

Hito Hitori Futari v07 (!Hito07 !Hitori07) – The second to last volume of our favorite spiritual, political drama series! We were hoping to release both v07+v08 together, but v08 isn’t close to being ready because of the redraws left in the volume. So, maybe in early January.

Koukou Tekken-den Tough v23 (!Tough23 !Koukou23) – Same thing as HHF, had planned to release two volumes today, but unfortunately we couldn’t finish on time. Next volume should be out sooner or later. By the way, big thank you to Soujourn for editing a couple of volumes of this series. It’s always greatly appreciated.

Manga Of The Dead (!MOTD !WereLate) – So… we’re a day late on this. I guess that’s the price of being lazy. 🙂 Anyway, I scanned this series back in January, nearly a year ago. Just like Scientia, it was one of those volumes I bought on a whim because the cover looked interesting. But unfortunately, unlike Scientia, this didn’t turn out to be any good. Probably the reason it took so long to do. And on top of that, it isn’t exactly our greatest work ever, but at least we’re done with it and we’re wipping our hands with it. Hey, MangaStream’s version might be better than ours, I dunno. I haven’t read it, mostly because outside of maybe two stories, the whole volume was pretty shitty.

Rookies v24 (End) (!Rookies24 !Rook24) – Finally! The final volume is here! In my [extremely biased] opinion, this is the second best sports manga available to read behind REAL. Yeah, I’m not biased at all. From beginning to end, it was just amazing. I’d make a forum post about it, but the forums seem to be broken again and the Russian’s probably been blackout drunk since early in the morning, so I don’t have any hopes of fixing it for another week or so. A big, big thank you to Deadbeat Scans for all of their help over the years to finish the series. There’s also a Oneshot for Rookies that we’ll be doing soon. It takes place after the end of the series. I’m going to find the time to re-read the series, because I just loved it so damn much.

Setting Up To Fail (!Setting !Suberu) – Speaking of Masanori Morita, here’s another compilation of oneshots by him. This is the second compilation of oneshots of his that we’ve done, following Shiba Inu. Masanori Morita is a bad motherfucker man. Really one of the most underrated mangaka out there.

Suicide Island c71-72 (!SI71 !SI72 !Island71 !Island72) – We had planned to release a full volume of this, but between the redraws and not getting all of the script on time, we settled with this. Sorry mates.

So, some news for those interested… About the stuff we didn’t finish.

There’s a total of 8 & 4/5ths volumes we didn’t have time to finish. It’s unfortunate, but that’s life. You know, I usually plan on relaxing during January, but I have the feeling I’m not going to find a second of time to do that.

Full Metal Panic Sigma: We received the script a little late to be able to have it done on Christmas day, but we’ll try to have it done for early January

Unnamed Hoshino Yukinobu project:  We’ve started typesetting a oneshot collection by Hoshino Yukinobu this last week and if there weren’t any power failiures in Toronto, there’s a good chance it would have been done today or at the latest, a week from now.

I Am A Hero: No ETA for it atm. The translator (laika) is taking a break from translating and I don’t know when he’ll be back. If there’s a competent translator around that wants to give us a hand, contact me.

REAL: We’re going to start working on it in January, probably to have it done around Febuary. kewl0210 is going to start translating it when we finish up Hito Hitori Futari, probably.

If you have questions about other projects, feel free to ask.

Merry Christmas guys. Thanks for the releases. I saw Manga of the Dead and thought, hah. Looking forward to more Dokuro and Setting Up To Fail sounds interesting.

  2. Michael

Hey, Manga of the Dead. I was only interested in that because of the illustrations by some artists that I like. Both MangaStream and you released within a day of each other? Weird. Thanks for your work.

  3. GGpX

@Michael Yeah, it's a funny coincidence. Second time this has happened to me. First time was with Itou Junji's Cat Diary.

  4. Jeff

i cant get enough of koukou tekkenden tough and i cant wait for the next volume

  5. johnny

    Rookies was amazing! :crying:

  6. Badalight

Thank you thank you thank you! I have seriously been waiting for the ending of rookies for the last 4-5 years. I am so glad you guys never gave up on it. Thank you for all of the hard work!

You people rock so hard. Thank you for that.

  11. Cenit

@ggpx so just that i get you right, sir … Avatar already finished translating the last Sigma volume? That's awesome. Certainly a fine dude. Keep it up, guys. Congratulations on 2500 chapters and merry christmas to all of you!

  12. GGpX

@Cenit Yup. Right now we're proofing it.

  13. Hachibei

What's going on with SJG? I feel like I'm the only person who actually cares about it anymore.

  14. Anonymous

Same as always: Shamo? 😀 Okay, I know that this is probably to early for estimates, since Vol. 31 came out a week ago in Japan… Thank you for your hard work! And I hope you all had a nice Christmas! 🙂

  15. GGpX

@Hachibei The project leader (Kuthrow) is pretty much done with scanlations, so I really don't know where we'll go from here. I have the whole volume translated and we'll most likely have it scanlated one day (because I don't like wasting people's work), but right now I have no idea when. @Anonymous I'll be buying (or more specifically, getting someone to pick it up for me) Shamo v31 soon. ETA for the scanlation is unknown. Depends on the t/l & how busy the cleaner(s) is/are. I'd be guessing around Febuary, maybe March?

  16. 123swoosh

How about "Inherit The Stars" and "Master Keaton"?

  17. GGpX

@123swoosh The Inherit The Stars translator is on vacation atm. I hope to have her back in January. Keaton, we should be working on that soon.

  18. el

What's the current state of SJG? Thanks for the awesome work this year. Happy new year guys!!!

  19. el

Nvm my comment on sjg, just read hachibel's comment and your answer to that after I had pressed 'add my comment', silly me. Thanks once again guys.

  20. annoyedwabbit

Thank you so so so much for all your work on Rookies! I am super excited to load it all up on my tablet and start an epic full-series re-read. 😀

  21. Ivan

Happy new year! Really longing for FMP 🙂 Keep up! 🙂

  22. topkek

Thank you so much for Dokuro

  23. Daiguren

Hi guys, thank you for your hard work from France 🙂 I'd like to know if you're gonna continue the FMP manga by translating "FMP Another" once you're done with Sigma ?

  24. blazerx46

i also want more chapters of Shonan Junai Gumi :crying: its like waiting for eternity

  25. Ivan

Can't wait to read FMP! :w00t: Thank you guys!

  26. Slicer

    >I Am A Hero: No ETA for it atm. NOOOOOOOOOO Somebody fuckin' get on this!

  27. BlazingSS4

🙁 When's the next volume of kou kou tekkenden TOUGH release? I can't stop thinikng about how awesome it is. Are you guys planning on doing the sequel?

  28. GGpX

@Slicer When the translator comes back, we'll be on it. @BlazingSS4 Next volume shouldn't take long. Volume 25+, though, I don't know. As for the sequel, despite it being done by an assembly of shit-tier groups (From start to finish, sadly) I don't really have any plans on doing it. I mean, if I were to get 3 quality cleaners who all want to work on Koukou Tekken-den Tough overnight, then yeah, because we'd have the whole series done by the end of 2014 and working on the sequel would become a realistic goal. Unfortunately, I only have one editor working on Koukou Tekken-den Tough and he has bigger fish to fry than to be editing for hours every day.

  29. breizh

Thanks for suicide island, it's so good =)

  30. BlazingSS4

@GGpX Do you guys release weekly chapters OR in every blue moon? I know ya'll kinda a busy team and all and I really appreciate the hardwork. 🙂

  31. GGpX

@BlazingSS4 We do volume releases for Koukou Tekken-den Tough because the pace of the manga is too slow to be read in chapters. It's really a series that needs to be read in big chunks, ie a volume or two at a time.
